A 35 year career firefighter who retired as a Fire Chief and worked as a Fire Marshal. Through years of experience and knowledge has attained the rank of Fire Chief and recently served as the city's Fire Marshal. Dale has extensive experience with the International Fire Codes and Building Codes and during the course of his career achieved certification as an ICC Certified Fire Marshal and Certified Building Official. He also has extensive experience with NFPA codes and standards and is an NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).

 

Dale has over 10 yrs of experience working with the Life Safety Code as a Surveyor working part time for AAAHC, a nationwide ambulatory surgery center accreditation organization. In this role he has conducted hundreds of on site assessments of health care facilities throughout the nation to determine compliance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code requirements and assess compliance with the Physical Environment standards required of Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery facilities.

 

His unique combination of technical training and credentials coupled with “real world” firefighting and command officer experience brings a perspective of knowing the “whys” of codes and how they affect the safety of people and preservation of property.

 

He has served as a member of the NFPA 99 "Health Care Facilities Code" Code Committee, writing the code published in 2018. He also served on the NFPA Building Fire Safety Systems Executive Committee and was also been selected by the International Association of Fire Chiefs to represent their national organization on the NFPA 101 "Life Safety Code" code committee.
